Advance Wars paper Fighters by ninjatoespapercraft Advance Wars paper Fighters by ninjatoespapercraft
Most (if not all) of the units from the original Advance Wars game are basically chibi / super deformed of real life counterparts, and for most of the planes it's not difficult to see which ones:

- the Yellow Comet Fighter is obviously based on the legendary World War II Japanese fighter plane, the A6M "Zero"...

- the Green Earth Fighter is easily identified as an A-10 "Warthog"...

- and the Orange Star Fighter is based on an F-15 Eagle.

There are some differences of course, but looking up the real life counterparts provides lots of inspiration to make my hand-drawn papercraft Advance Wars series: [link]

Have fun building!

I am wondering if you can make one of my Me 262 sprite, which in my headcanon is the Green Earth Military's intended successor design for the fighter role akatsukirocket854.deviantart.c…

I saw it, Eagle would be proud to have it! ;o)

But I'm afraid I really can't promise which paper models I'll make in the future, though; papercraft is only a hobby of mine, and I already have so many ideas that I probably already will never have the time to make all the paper models I want...! ;o)

I know that some other people already made a papercraft Me-262, like www.geocities.jp/pinaconn/inde… and maquettes.hautetfort.com/archi…

Those are "real "versions, and they look really neat I think, but probably one that fits the Advance Wars "chibi" look better can be found on this website though: www.wa.commufa.jp/~ton/pcc/ind…

I'm sorry I can't promise you to make your own Advance Wars Me-262, but I don't want to make promises I can't keep of course, sorry... :o(

When your job is to kill tanks, I guess it's okay to go as slow as one. ;o)

I think the money goes towards extra armor and extra powerful explosives for the shells. The better tank isn't the prettier one, of course, as the Yellow Comet MD "Basically-a-Big-Box-on-Treads"-Tank shows... ;o)

I'd also love a new, "classic" Advance Wars game! I think I would prefer keeping the turn based mechanics, though but hey, I also preferred the old graphics better and look what happened... ;o)

Thanks, the planes are fun to make (a bit mroe difficult than the tanks, though) because they really look like chibi versions of real planes. ;o)

Now all you need is the Blue moon and Black Hole faction and you have everything! :D

As far as the Fighters go, yeah. ;o)

I've already been thinking about them, I think the Blue Moon Fighter is based on a Mirage 2000 and the Black Hole one might just be fantasy, but it also has a lot of UAV drone features, so I can use that as inspiration. ;o)

I doubt a whole squadron of Zeros could take out an Eagle in real life tho XD
I love classic AW... they better make another one for the 3ds

Haha yeah, it's funny to see a propellor plane take on an F-15 and win... ;o)

I'd also love a new, classic Advance Wars style game for the 3DS, but to be honest, if they make a new Advance Wars game, I think it will be in the darker, Days of Ruin style... :o(

The difference between Yellow Comet's tanks and the other nations' is even more stark. They're so garishly small and low-tech. Yet, under Kanbei, somehow, they're unstoppable killing machines. How does his extra money make it happen? Does he coat them in solid gold?

Yeah, the series has been quiet for so long... I'd love to see the classic Wars setup brought back, in 3D... but what if it got, perhaps, a RTS makeover, as opposed to the old turn-based formula?
