CommentsIf I could be so bold as to make a polite request (spoken as though by Christoph Waltz
I'd request a 1:48 Scale papercraft B:Wing in .PDF format*, 1:48 Scale Papercraft Outrigger frieghter the Twilight (the spice freighter from the Clone Wars)* 1:48 Scale papercraft ARC 170 1:48 scale clone wars pattern z95 headhunter 1:48 scale papercraft LAAT/c* 1:48 assorted droid/separatist fighters (I've already made a Vulture Class and a few variants on the Trifighter class) 1:48 Scarab droid starfighter. 1:48 scale paper Droid Bomber (either Hyena or the earlier style)* 1:48 scale droid cruiser/lander. *denote major awesome highly sought-after models. ---- There's a lot of papermodels there on that list..., but they'd round out the collection/ bring loads of joy to papercraft fans the world over... also, I'm not so sold on the jay's toybox version of the V-19 torrent fighter, or the V-Wing. Have you tried building either of those? Also, Have you tried building the LAAT/i or LAAT/c from paper-replika? Its a 1:48 scale model, very detailed and challenging. The Star Wars universe is very huge of course, with lots of neat spaceships that would be a lot of fun to make! ;o)
I can't promise you if/which models I might make in the future, but there are a lot more papercrafters that also like Star Wars of course! You probably already found a lot of them, like [link] (who's actually making a very detailed X-Wing right now that I think will be finished soon; but he usually only releases his models for a limited amount of time on his public site, so if you want it, you will have to check back regularly or you might miss it...!) or [link] or [link] to name but a few. On this site: [link] you can even more links, but there are many more! ;o) A lot of sites do release their models in PDF format, but the PDO format you can find are made using a tool called "Pepakura Designer", and can be opened with the free "Pepakura Viewer": [link] Pepakura Viewer only runs on Windows computers though, but if you're on a MAC, you can always try asking if the creator could convert ("print") the files to a PDF file for you, or ask one of your friends to do so for you if they have a Windows computer. Have fun! Thank you, I find the paper models a lot of fun to make, so I will definitely keep on making them, yes. ;o)
i really REALLY want to learn how to make my own models. dont you have a tutorial? or can you teach me?
A lot of papercraft makers nowadays use a program called Pepakura Designer www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/
With it, you can unfold a digital 3D model into 2D papercraft parts. Pepakura Designer itself is very easy to use, the most important part is to make a good 3D model that is not to difficult to unfold in a logical way. ;o) A lot of papercraft video game models start with the actual 3D models from the game, but normally, it will have to be changed so it will be suited to make into a papercraft model, and of course you can also make your own 3D model from scratch. There are many 3D programs that you can use, all with their own tutorials. You don't have to use a very professional one (a lot of people use Sketchup, Blender or Metasequoia for instance). If you practice a lot and just play around with the programs, you'll be able to make simple 3D models very quickly! ;o) It's really just a matter of papercraft experience and personal preference how to make the 3D model in such a way that it will be logical to unfold and (hopefully ;o) fun to build. I'm afraid I don't really have a lot of time to make a complete tutorial, but on my weblog, I regularly post my works in progress with my thoughts on why I do the things the way I do: [link] Like I said though, a lot of it is just personal preference, and when you start making your own papercraft models, you will come up with your own preferences and ideas of course! ;o) |
